Genealogy of Christ According to the Gospel of Matthew

Matthew 1:1-6a (fourteen generations)
1) Abraham= father of a multitude; to be populous
2) Isaac= laughter, mockery; to laugh outright
3) Jacob= heel catcher, supplanter; to swell up or out; to restrain
4) Judah= celebrated; to worship with extended hands
5) Perets= a break; to break out; burst out; disperse abroad (from Tamar= to be
erect)
6) Hezron= courtyard; a fenced village; to surround with a stockade
7) Aram= high; to be high; to rise; to raise; exalted
8) Amminidab= people of liberality; a tribe of volunteers; willing ones
9) Nahshon= enchanter; to hiss, whisper; a magic spell; to learn by experience
10) Salmon= investiture; garment or raiment
11) Boaz= (of uncertain meaning); a pillar at the entrance of Solomon’s temple (from
Rahab= proud, roomy, at liberty)
12) Obed= serving; to work as a slave; a servant (from Ruth= a friend)
13) Jesse= extant; to stand out, exist, entity
14) David= loving; to boil, to love, lover, friend
Matthew 1: 6b-11 (fourteen generations)
15) Solomon= peaceful; to be safe, happy; to be completed, safe
16) Rehoboam= an enlarged people; to enlarge; to broaden
17) Abijah= father; worshipper of Jah
18) Asa= (of uncertain meaning) a king and a Levite
19) Jehoshophat= Jehovah judged
20) Joram= Jehovah raised
21) Uzziah= strength of Jah
22) Jotham= Jehovah is perfection
23) Ahaz= possessor; to seize
24) Hezekiah= strengthened of Jah
25) Manaseh= causing to forget; to forget
26) Amon= trained, skilled; an architect; to be permanent; to trust, believe, support,
build up
27) Josiah= founded of Jah; a foundation
28) Jeconiah= Jah will establish; to be erect; to be prosperous; to be certain
[at this point the Babylonian captivity began…Babylon= confusion; to mingle; to mix up]

29) Jechoniah= Jah will establish
30) Shealtiel= I have asked El (God)
31) Zerubbabel= born in confusion
32) Abiud= father/possessor of renown
33) Eliakim= God of raising
34) Azor= helpful
35) Zadok= just; righteous
36) Achim= Jehovah will raise (same as Jehoiakim)
37) Eliud= God of majesty
38) Eleazer= God is my helper
39) Matthan= a present, gift
40) Jacob= heel catcher; supplanter (same as Israel= he will rule as God)
41) Joseph= let him add
42) Jesus= Jehovah saved

The promise of eternal salvation as detailed by the orderly definitions of the final
fourteen generations listed in order from Jechoniah to Jesus...

“God will raise up again! I asked God for that which is born in captivity
to become mighty. God the resurrection, helper, righteous will raise up
a majestic helper as a gift. He will rule as God evermore increasing to
eternal salvation.”
