The Keeping Power of the Word

The point is that we DO have His word! To understand the power His word has to
perform what He has said is what has kept people for thousands of years
faithful to God; even in the face of being martyred for the cause of Christ.
It is His word that He speaks which has created every single intricate part to
this entire universe and all of its processes of sustaining their existance
and function. He simply spoke His word, and it came to pass in precise order
and form. (That's why we can be certain of the answer to the ancient
question...which came first; the chicken or the egg?... the chicken, of
course!! Ha!)

Anyway, with the word of the Lord filling your heart and providing the basis
for your confidence and faith, you can look into the darkest circumstance and
say, I KNOW what God has said! That is the "strength" spoken of in Isaiah40,
and it is the faith which captivates the attention of our Heavenly Father. He
carefully watches over His promises, and every single word which He has
spoken, to bring them to fulfillment. On that you can stake your life!

You know, even before I opened the link to that WANE story, I knew who they
were going to be talking about! Ha! The sad thing is that Elwyn wimped away
from what he and everyone else knew he meant, and tried to play politics
himself. Now, that's the Elwyn I know! Ha!... a real spineless jellyfish!
That's why the Christians don't have a united front today to stand in the face
of the spirit of this age... they don't stand on anything, not even God's
word. They readily trade their peace with God away for the instant
gratification of the vanity of prosperity and the feel-good gospel.

But, here's the bottom line, you guys... if God is God, then let's serve Him!
So, we dare shout our words... "As for me and my house, we will serve the
Lord!"

Just one more thing... consider this verse... Romans 4:17... this entire
chapter has to do with the process in which Abraham came to believe God's
word, which essentially became the reason God called Him righteous. In this
verse, we see the absolute foundation of Abraham's belief in God... WHY he
believed the word of God which were spoken to him. #1) he knew God as the ONE
who gave life to what was dead, and caused it to live and breathe once
again... #2) he knew God as the ONE who called things which did not exist into
the reality of existance... both spiritually AND physically. This is was the
foundation of Abraham's faith and trust in God's word, and the solid footing
by which he left his family and his entire earthly inheritance to follow "a
voice" to the ends of the earth. There had to be events take place in
Abraham's life prior to the Lord calling him to follow Him which caused this 2-
pronged belief to be evident in his life. He had no hesitation to stepping out
at the word of the Lord. Even though questions seemed to appear in his mind
later in life regarding the birth of their son, which led to Sarah and him
taking matters into their own hands, and "help" the Lord perfom His word,
still he KNEW God had spoken to him, and had given him His word. This was
Abraham's experience and journey of faith... did God bring His word to pass in
Abraham's life??

Now, look at this verse... Hebrews 8:6+... the New Covenant, which is the
summation of all the Lord has promised to us in our time, is based on "Better"
promises... Greater Promises!! Then you need to see 2 more verses... first,
Heb 11:13... these people were persuaded the promises pertained to them; they
embraced the promises with confidence; and finally, they "confessed" the
promises. This act of confession is one of the most powerful actions we
perform with relation to what we believe to be the truth. (see what the Spirit
of the Lord spoke to me concerning this action regarding Rom 10:9-10... I sent
it to Doris).

The last verse I would like to point out to you is found in 2Peter 1:4...
"Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises that by these
you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption
that is in the world through lust." The first word of this verse is "whereby".
This word specifically refers to what has just been stated..."Grace and peace
be multiplied to you through the KNOWLEDGE of God and of Jesus our Lord,
according as His divine power has given unto us ALL THINGS that pertain to
life and godliness, through the KNOWLEDGE of Him who called us to glory and
virtue."... I tell you what... digest that for a while... and it will totally
and forever transform you into a person of faith in God!!
